Meet Kristen
FOUNDER & DESIGNER
I’m Kristen, the heart behind The Feathered Peony. My journey into design has been anything but conventional. With a background in Early Childhood Education and years spent helping my husband run our family business, SiteScapes of the Lakes Region, I always felt a pull toward something creative that was just for me.
When our children grew up and left home, I finally followed that calling, eventually earning my Interior Design Certification through The Interior Design Institute and continuing my education through ongoing seminars and courses. That’s when The Feathered Peony was born—a blend of my love for storytelling, design, and the art of making people feel at home.
The name itself carries deep meaning. It was inspired by my grandmother, my greatest inspiration and the heart of my story. After losing her to pancreatic cancer, I began noticing feathers along my path, a quiet reminder of her love and presence. The peony, our favorite flower, symbolizes grace, beauty, and connection. Together, they became the essence of this studio: designs rooted in love, guided by meaning, and created with heart.

At The Feathered Peony, design is never about perfection; it’s about intention. I believe your home and gatherings should reflect your story: where you’ve been, what you cherish, and what feels like you. Each project is a collaboration, built on trust, conversation, and care.
I blend timeless style with modern comfort, layering textures, color, and emotion to create designs that feel effortlessly personal. Whether I’m refreshing a single room, designing an intimate dinner, or styling your wedding tablescape, every detail is chosen with heart.

My family is at the heart of everything I create. My husband, Justin, is my steady support and biggest believer, always encouraging me to dream bigger and build boldly. Our daughter, Allana, brings creativity, warmth, and fresh perspective into my life.
Our son, Brady, and his girlfriend, Megan, add laughter, loyalty, and constant inspiration. And woven through it all is the lasting influence of my late Gram, Marian, whose love of beauty, hospitality, and making people feel at home continues to guide my work in interior design and event styling every single day.
The Feathered Peony is her namesake, honoring her spirit and the way she taught me that thoughtful design is really about making people feel loved.
